Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Something else on your mind? Give the office a call.
How is pricing worked out?
All trees are different, so we always inspect your trees in person before giving a quote. Pricing depends on how hard the site is to access, the size and type of tree, and the potential danger of the job.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured. We can send documentation on request.
Are your staff qualified?
Our crew on site are either qualified arborists or apprentice arborists. Work done by contractors without the right qualifications can cause major damage to your or your neighbour's property, or injury to people, which may leave you liable for the costs.
Why use an arborist?
Hiring an arborist is a decision not to be taken lightly. Well cared for trees are attractive and can add value to your property, while poorly maintained trees can be a significant liability. Arborists know what trees need and are trained and equipped to give you the best advice on caring for them. See our arborist services.
When choosing an arborist, check for ISA certification. ISA Certified Arborists are experienced professionals who have passed an extensive examination covering all aspects of tree care. See our arborist's qualifications.
How soon can you do the work?
Once you accept the quote we schedule your work as soon as possible, on a day that suits you. The time frame depends on the size of the job: we may be able to come the very next day, or it could be a week or two. We will talk about this when you accept your quote and do our best to meet your needs.
Can I keep logs for firewood?
We can discuss it, but usually we prefer to clean up all waste when the job is finished to remove any hazard or risk.
Why should I grind the stump?
- Create a flat surface for a deck, pool, spa or concrete slab
- Make room for garden renovations or landscaping
- Remove the danger of tripping over stumps
- Create a safe place for children to play
- Create more space in your garden
- Large stumps can host a termite nest
What is stump grinding?
A stump grinder removes stumps with a high speed rotating disc with teeth that chip away the wood. Grinders range from the size of a lawn mower to as large as a truck. Hydraulic cylinders move the cutter wheel sideways through the stump and raise and lower it. We can generally take the stump 10 to 15 centimetres (4 to 6 inches) below ground.
Do you clean up after the job?
We do our best to leave your property as tidy as possible. If you choose to have stumps ground, there will be some chippings left behind.
Do I need Council approval?
When our arborist visits to quote, he will tell you if you need Council approval. Each Council has different rules and they change from time to time. If you do need approval, our arborist and office staff will help you with it.
