Made to Australian Standards

Australian Standard AS 4454-2012 sets the industry best practice and minimum requirements for composts, soil conditioners and mulches. It covers pasteurisation, particle size, ageing, pH, water content and chemical tolerances.

Pasteurisation eliminates weed seeds and plant propagules, and removes harmful bacteria or pathogens so they cannot be passed on to the trees you are mulching. It also removes fire ants, which cannot survive those temperatures: important around Brisbane.

Why living mulch matters

Soil without active micro-biology is just dirt. In a garden, mulch gives the soil composting matter. When mulch is composting it is active and beneficial: the cycle of life in soil starts with bacteria and works up the food chain to worms and arthropods.

At every step, composting mulch, helped by fungi and bacteria, breaks down to supply nutrients and minerals in a form plants can use. The more diverse the soil biology, the healthier the system.

We take mulch seriously and use the same method every time. It is watered and turned for three months so it is fully pasteurised, then re-inoculated from a mother stock to boost biological activity. If you have gardens you care about, try our product and see the difference.

Turned for three months

Every batch is watered and turned in our yard until it is fully pasteurised, then re-inoculated to bring it back to life. It is the same method every time, so you get the same quality every time.
